We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in Harlingen, TX

At the Junior League of Harlingen, we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next.

The members of the Junior League of Harlingen decided to focus their efforts in celebration of JLH’s 75th Anniversary on renovating a space for children that use the Harlingen Public Library. Creating a space for children to feel comfortable in exploring ideas, learning leadership skills, and furthering their education aligns perfectly with the mission of JLH. Our League has pledged $75,000 to the Harlingen Public Library for the renovation of the Children’s Space. We are motivated by the impact this special project will have on the Harlingen community and look forward to sharing more about this project in the coming months.

Our goal is to help Harlingen, TX, women develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Among our many successes are our contributions to The Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative along with our annual KidFit Festival and Fun Run, which combats childhood obesity and educates families on health and nutrition, The Girls Education Mentoring Series (GEMS), which targets middle school girls from our Harlingen middle schools to encourage an honest conversation about a girls world and help create a sense of support and sisterhood, EmpowHerment Institute, a women’s conference featuring discussion panels and training on various topics, to name just a few.

Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of Harlingen, TX. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about their communities’ needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, Junior League of Harlingen is making a big impact on Harlingen, TX.
